5 dead ,25 injured in Akomadan Accident

30 people has involved in a severe accident on Tuesday November 2, 2021 at Akomada leading to 5 burnt to death and 25 in critical condition.

This bus which was traveling from Techiman to Kumasi collided with a Kia Truck parked at the roadside,at a few meters from the Akomada police checkpoint leading to full burnt fire of the car. The 25 that survived the accident are under medical treatment .

The District Police Commander (DSP ) for Akomada Gyasi Agyeman who disclosed the news on Tuesday explained how the incident happened.

According to him, “A bus loaded with passengers from Nandom to Kumasi with a registration number GT 4215 – 17 crushed into a parked Kia Towing car with registration number GT 6983 – 12”.
DSP Gyasi also said, “about 25 were able to escape but five of them were trapped and burnt beyond recognition”.

He continued that : “You could see their bodies in the vehicles. Five are dead beyond recognition. The injured have been rushed to the hospital. According to the passengers, some alighted at Techiman, Kintampo and other places, along the road so it was not a fully loaded bus”.

He further explained that the driver was overspending and refused to stop to be checked when stopped at the police checkpoint by the police men.
“Some of the passengers even said they got angry with him for the reckless driving, so a few meters after our check point, he ran into the truck”, he said.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo has extended his condolences to the family of the victims who died and wishes a speedy recovery to the injured on Twitter.

He then urged Road users especially
Drivers to drive with care to decrease the number of road accidents. “I continue to urge all road users, especially our drivers, to drive safely always, and help reduce the spate of road accidents in the country.” He said.
